The Fontainebleau Hotel is looking for new employees, and they’re looking to FIU students to fill those spots.
On Thursday, June 12, the hotel partnered with Career and Talent Development to host its “Summer 305” event in the Graham Center Pit. Donuts were offered for students who stopped by to get more information about job opportunities.
Erica Krider, director of talent management at the Fontainebleau and FIU alumna, told Student Media that the event was a way of marketing to students directly about how they can get involved in the hospitality industry.
Positions that the hotel has available include guest service agent, spa concierges, chef and host positions in their various restaurants and clubs, as well as managerial opportunities.
“We are offering permanent full-time paid positions, and we also have internships that are paid. We don’t believe in unpaid positions,” said Krider.
Krider also said that the Fontainebleau is looking to open more part-time positions to be more amenable to students who require more flexible schedules.
The positions aren’t only open to hospitality students either, as Krider said the positions are open to students of all majors who might be looking for job experience.
For a good application, prospective employees should highlight experience in customer service.

Andrea De La Cruz of Career and Talent Development said that students looking to apply to any of the positions offered by the hotel should go to handshake, the University’s job search and recruitment website.
