The University is six weeks into the fall semester and students still have trouble parking.
The Department of Parking and Transportation asked via email that students, faculty and staff stop parking regularly on Tamiami Park because it inconveniences residents in the area.
The email also warned that the pedestrian gate on the west side of the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center, which connects the park to the Modesto A. Maidique Campus, will be locked from now on.
“This is an issue for local residents who use the park for recreational purposes and sporting events and have difficulty finding parking,” the e-mail read.
Instead, the transportation office asks students to park in the Lot 5 overflow parking lot.
